Autumn has arrived! So it feels rather strange to be gearing up for the second CrossFit Open of 2019, which starts this Friday. If you are new to CrossFit Leyland and aren’t sure what to expect, you’re in for a treat! You can read more about the CrossFit open here:

The Open

The FIVE open workouts will take place October 10th to November 11th 2019. At CrossFit Leyland, members will have several opportunities each week to complete the weekly open workout;

Fridays: 4:30pm, 5:30pm and 6:30pm

Saturdays: 8:00am and 9:00am

Mondays: 6:00am, 7:00am, 9:00am and 10:00am

The focus is very much on turning up, having fun and giving your best on the day. We won’t be repeating workouts during the open, you get one shot! Prepare for the unexpected, make it count and enjoy it!

Friday night lights

Following the final open workout on Friday 8th November, we will be having a social with FREE PIZZA! Feel free to come along to take part, or spectate from 6:30pm onwards.

Mallorca Trip

We have a group of very lucky members and coaches that are heading out to Mallorca this Friday for lots of fun and fitness in the sun. The CFL training camp consists of; beach workouts, training sessions at CrossFit Mallorca, Paddle-boarding and Hiking.

 

If you missed out this year, fear not! Our 2020 Mallorca trip is going to be sooner than expected. We will be heading out there 14th – 18th May 2020. Places are limited and our training camps typically sell out fast, so be sure to register your interest early! Registration opens Tuesday 15th October at 8am and bookings can be made via teamup ‘courses’.

In House Competitions

Mixed Pairs

Registration is now open! Our annual in-house mixed pairs competition will take place on Sunday 3rd November. It is always a great day with an electric atmosphere and plenty of camaraderie! If you know a partner that would be a good match for you, feel free to pair up and put your names down, however, we would also be happy to find you a suitable partner. Sign up on teamup by choosing ‘courses’ from the drop down menu.

In House Courses

Kids course (7 – 10 year olds)

There are still a few spaces left on our upcoming kids course. This is a great opportunity for children to learn good habits early and be moving like ninjas before they reach adolescence! The next course starts 17th October – 28th November 2019 and includes; TWO x 45 minute sessions weekly (Thursdays / Saturdays)

Gymnastics course

We will also be hosting the CrossFit Preferred Gymnastics Course by Coach Tucker and staff on 7th/8th December 2019. If you are interested in developing your gymnastic coaching skills for CrossFit, then this is not to be missed! This is an external course that is advertised nationally/internationally amongst the CrossFit community, so is likely to sell out fast. To read more about the contents and book your place >>

Christmas Party

We still have a few places left for the CFL Christmas Party, taking place at Leyland Golf Club on Saturday 30th November 7pm – 1am . This is a great opportunity to meet new friends in the gym and let your hair down. Bookings are needed by 31st October via the ‘courses’ tab on your teamup account. For those of you who have already booked on, the menu and meal selection sheet are now up on the mezzanine.

Member Survey

A couple of weeks ago we emailed members asking for input on surveymonkey. We were overwhelmed with the positive responses – thank you! There were lots of constructive points raised and we will be filming a short video next week with information regarding the survey results and responses.

At CrossFit Leyland we pride ourselves on designing universally scalable workouts which can be completed by ALL members. The scaling of load and intensity enables us to have a broad range of individuals completing the same workout alongside each other, we don’t change programmes we scale them.
