What makes CrossFit different to other gyms?
CrossFit is about variety and adaptation. We programme our workouts for General Physical Preparedness. We don’t have leg days, back- and bi- days, or cardio days. We believe the body is a whole system, and strengthen it as a whole.
So for you, this means you’re a better runner than the best weightlifter, a better weightlifter than the best runner, and are generally physically prepared for anything in your everyday life. Plus you’ll live in a healthy body with a strong, lean physique.
I am out of shape and the people I have seen who do CrossFit look really fit, will I fit in?
Of course, CrossFit is for everyone regardless of age, sex, body mass etc. Our community will embrace you as a new member and provide you with all the encouragement you need.
I am a member of another CrossFit affiliate and will be passing by, can I call in for a WOD?
Yes you are more than welcome to join one of our classes just let us know when you are looking to come and we will book you in. First session is always FREE!
What are functional movements?
Movements that occur in everyday lives e.g. squatting, picking items up, pushing and pulling things.
What if I have a previous injury?
Come in and have a chat with us and we will discuss scaling options with you to enable you to complete the workouts
What is the difference between Metcon classes & CrossFit classes?
Both classes are suitable for ALL abilities and both classes will get you fit that is for sure!
The Metcon classes do not involve any heavy or technical movements. You will warm up & get stuck straight into a long sweaty workout followed by a cool down. Our Metcon classes range from 45 – 60 minutes.
The CrossFit classes do involve lifting & complex movements (all of which can be scaled) and therefore require everyone to complete a foundations course first (3 x 1 hour sessions focusing on developing technique & familiarising you with scaling options). The classes typically have 2 coaches present to coach you through all aspect of the classes. A class will typically involve a warm up, skill or strength element then a workout followed by a cool down (although remember CrossFit is constantly varied).
If you are sure which membership would suit you better get in touch & we will happily guide you (enquiries@crossfitleyland.co.uk)
I struggle to arrange child care occasionally , can my child come with me to classes?
We do have a ‘kids area’ which we are happy for you to use however it is always your responsibility to ensure your child is well behaved and adheres to the regulations we have.
I don’t feel confident in all of the CrossFit movements yet, is there a way I can get better before I can attend the classes?
Our METCON (metabolic conditioning) classes are perfect for anyone that is new to CrossFit style training. They focuses on simple whole body movements to burn lots of calories and tone up. No complex weightlifting or gymnastic movements, just easy to follow movements that are delivered by our coaches. We offer METCON classes 7 days per week at various times.
Alternatively our coaches offer personal training sessions which are a fantastic way to build confidence & skill levels.
I would like to hire the gym to hold a class of my own, is this possible?
Yes please contact us to discuss your specific needs and the nature of your class (depending upon relevant insurance and qualifications)
Do you have shower/changing facilities?
Yes
