There is an undeniable buzz surrounding the TM events, in the holding area, at the start line, between obstacles. The atmosphere is electric (which is convenient!). Tough mudder is not a race per se, it’s a team challenge. Whether you enter solo, or as part of a team, it is almost impossible not to need the help of someone, or need to help someone else along the way to conquer all of the obstacles. Besides …. it is way more fun sharing the funny moments along the way with a bunch of friends. You’re bound to get in to some weird positions in which you need rescuing by a team mate!
3. Mental Toughness
Throughout the 25 obstacles and 10 miles of muddy terrain, most people will encounter “the fear”. Whether it be fear of failure, humiliation, or even fear for your own life! You will have to channel your inner grit and determination to conquer classic phobias, such as; heights, water, confined spaces, electricity, ice …. But the good news is that your fellow mudders will help you through it. The feeling of overcoming your personal demons and phobias is what builds character. That isn’t to say that you have to complete every obstacle, or even every mile, it is very much down to what you can give on the day.
4. Focused Training
Having an event to prepare for helps to keep most people on track with their training and nutrition. Whether it be in the gym, or getting in some miles with your team outdoors, there is plenty to work on ahead of tough mudder! Stability, Strength, Stamina … you name it, you need it! You’ll find some top tips on the tough mudder website for event prep.
